Big news is coming in from Kandy, where despite Sri Lanka’s full efforts, Pakistan could not qualify for the semi-finals.
Pakistan needed to defeat Sri Lanka by 65 runs to qualify. With that in mind, Pakistan first dropped Babar Azam. After that, Sri Lanka contributed with poor bowling, poor fielding, and dropped catches—helping Pakistan reach 212 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka’s batsmen seemed to get out quite easily. However, despite all this, Pakistan bowled so badly that New Zealand ended up qualifying.
Speaking to Fauxy, Sri Lanka’s captain said, “We were drowning anyway, my dear — so we dragged you down with us.”
Meanwhile, Pakistani fans are making posters saying, “Justice for Babar Azam.”
