On Wednesday, the Modi government clapped for itself for anticipating the Iran–Israel war years ago and keeping fuel prices high, while other countries are only beginning to increase them now.
After Iran announced the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, global oil prices are expected to rise significantly. While several countries are likely to increase fuel prices in response, the government of India is unlikely to do so, claiming it had already anticipated such a crisis and kept prices high for years.
Speaking to The Fauxy, a government official said, “This is the vision of Modi ji. We not only kept fuel prices higher, but we also blended 20% ethanol in them to save 20% fuel for this crisis period.”
Currently, the Modi government is clapping for itself again for keeping the passport weak so not many people get stuck abroad during wars.
