Netflix Researchers Confirm Modi is First Actor Who Can Play Both the Coloniser and the Colonised

Following a widely discussed campaign appearance in Tamil Nadu, streaming giant Netflix announced Tuesday that it has officially scouted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its newest "diversity hire" for upcoming historical dramas, citing his "unparalleled commitment to transformative method acting."

The decision reportedly came after Netflix executives viewed viral clips from a recent rally in which the Prime Minister appeared with a significantly darker complexion, a look social media users have dubbed “50 Shades of Modi Ji.”

"We’ve seen actors go through intense physical transformations before, but seeing a world leader adjust his literal pigment to better resonate with local demographics is the kind of 'color-conscious' dedication we need for our 2026 slate," said a Netflix casting director, noting that the Prime Minister’s ability to "vibe-shift" his skin tone to match regional voting blocks would save the company millions in post-production color grading.

The Prime Minister is reportedly being considered for several lead roles, including a surprise seventh season of The Crown, officially casting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Coloniser and the Colonised.

While experts suggest the visual change was likely due to outdoor lighting and camera filters, Netflix remains committed to the hire.
